This is the second of their hotels that we’ve featured on Where To Stay With Kids, after our recent guest blog on New Park Manor. Keep reading too for the Blog readers special offer mentioned at the end..

Woolley Grange is an 18th century manor house, located approximately a 20 minute drive from Bath in a beautiful and quaint Cotswolds village. What’s clear from the moment you walk into Woolley Grange is the history of the building itself, and the feeling of stepping back in time.

The next thing that hits you about Woolley Grange is just how family focused it is. As we entered, there was a staff member cooing over a small baby in a way that only happens when hotels actually care about families and making them feel at home. This family focus extends across the life of the hotel as you can see below..

Rooms: For a relatively small hotel (25 rooms in total), they have a high proportion of family suites in the hotel, which can cater for families up to 7. We were blown away by the family-friendly configuration of the family suites, a few of which we got to look at on our show-round. The family suites have separate spacious master bedrooms, with one bathroom, and a separate twin room for the children. These suites can cater for up to 4 children with pop up beds available at no extra cost.

Here are two examples of family suites below:

Food: Another feature that sets Woolley Grange apart as a family-focused hotel, is their approach to dining. There are several packages on offer: breakfast only, breakfast and dinner etc, but the really impressive thing is how they manage mealtimes at the hotel. There are three dinner servings: 5pm for kids afternoon tea, 6pm for family dining and then 7.30pm onwards when the dining room becomes an adult-only affair. But what to do with the kids I hear you say? Well they have a movie night every night for the children to watch a movie, whilst their parents can relax over a glass of wine and actually have a decent conversation for once :). We thought this was an inspired approach, because so many times, you leave a family holiday having connected with your kids but not having much time to connect as a couple.

Here’s the family dining conservatory:

Also noteworthy is that Woolley Grange sources a lot of its produce locally through the vegetables grown on site. Guests can walk through the vegetable gardens, and there’s even opportunities for the children to pick vegetables, and interact with the animals roaming around:

But we leave the best point till last.. on Sunday mornings, for no extra cost, the staff from the kids club pick up children from their room (at their parents request) and take them down for breakfast, whilst the parents enjoy a lie in. Now that’s taking family-focused to the next level!

Facilities: Woolley Grange has both an outdoor and an indoor pool. The outdoor pool was closed when we visited (January not the best time to swim outdoors!), but we hear it’s pretty spectacular in the summer months. The indoor pool is a good size, with child friendly steps going into the pool, and a depth of 1.2 which allows families to safely swim with their children.

There is also a Elemis spa onsite, with treatments on offer to entice most guests:

But what can the kids do whilst you are having a spa treatment? Well the hotel offers two hours of free childcare for children (from 3 months to 8 years old) in the Ofsted registered kids club. Relaxation, guilt free? Now that’s what we call a holiday!

On the grounds, there is also an older kids den with Table football, and plenty of outdoor activities on offer, including football, tree climbing, a playground, an insect house garden, a trampoline and nature walks across the rolling hills surrounding the hotel.

We absolutely loved our trip to Woolley Grange, and are already thinking about when to take our families down there next. Until next time Woolley Grange!
